A 54 mm miniature case for display and competition pieces

54 mm figures are painted to be looked at up close — historical figures, fantasy display pieces, competition entries. They are also heavy enough that, if one shifts in a box, the momentum does real damage. MyMiniCase carves a case to the sculpt so a 54 mm piece is held along its whole height.

The problem with big figures

Twice the height of a 28 mm figure means several times the weight, and a larger lever arm on every protruding part. A sword held out at 54 mm scale breaks where it meets the hand if the figure tips over inside its box.

A fitted cavity stops the tipping. The figure cannot rotate or slide, so the load stays on the base and the body instead of on the extremities. For a piece that took weeks to paint, that is the difference that matters.

Making a 54 mm case

1. Load the STL of the 54 mm figureInclude the base or plinth if it travels with the figure.
2. Set clearance, draft and the lid windowUse generous clearance and a small draft angle; add a window with a pane rim if the piece should stay visible.
3. Generate and printExport case and lid as STL. Cut a clear pane to the window size and seat it on the inner ledge.

Showing the figure without opening the case

The sliding lid can have a window — rectangular, rounded or circular — with a recessed ledge on the inside for a clear PETG or acrylic pane. The pane sits hidden inside the case, so the figure can be admired, and judged, without being handled.
